2022 Flood in Pakistan

Monsoon (sawon) Season starts in Pakistan during month of July and lasts in late August each year. Heavy floods are observed during these two months in provinces of Punjab and Sindh. In northern areas of Pakistan landsliding is common during this season. This year 2022, the rains of monsoon started in earlier. Heavy rains started after 20th of August 2022 in whole Pakistan but most affected areas are Chitral, Upper Dir, Donbala, Swat, Mardan, Lal Qila, Samarbah Dir, Tank, D.I Khan, Sukkar, Hyderabad, Khairpur Sindh, Rajanpur and some areas of lower Punjab.

Deaths: More than 32.5 Millions people have been affected by 2022 flood in Pakistan. As per official reports more than 1000 people have lost their lives which also include women and children. Mostly deaths reported in Sindh.

A group of more than 30 students, who are on a trip, trapped in Kumrat Valley, are still waiting for rescue. They have no food and drinkable water with them.


5 unlucky friends swept away in flood in Kohistan
An other group of five friends (some say brothers) remained stuck for more than 5 hours on a rock but couldn't be rescued and they disappeared in heavy waves of the flood in Kohistan. More than 800,000 animals killed.

Destruction: Over 1 million houses damaged. A big number of bridges, roads, hotels, vehicles and dams have damaged in 2022 flood.

Infectious Diseases: Survivors of 2022 flood in Pakistan are also facing attacks of different infectious diseases like water born infections, such as diarrheal diseases, hepatitis, air-borne infections and vector borne diseases such as yellow fever, typhoid, cholera, dengue and jaundice etc.

International help: Pakistan urgently seeks international helps to provide basic facilities and shelter to victims of 2022 flood in Pakistan.
